BSPR Research Seed Grant
Eligibility:
- BSPR member, of any age and job description (e.g. consultants, trainees, radiographers, student).
- Must have active membership for at least 1 year prior to the application.
- Retired members or overseas membership not applicable.

Up to £5000
Intended Use:
- To support a new research project in paediatric radiology.
- This can span any type of research – including lab, clinical, education based etc.
- Work may already have begun at time of the application (but must not have been started over 6 months ago).
- Priority given to research projects, not already funded through other means, with pre-defined, measurable outcomes to generate pilot data for further grant funding.
- Priority is given to early career researchers, and projects that are unlikely to be funded through other means/funding streams.
- The study may be conducted in the UK or abroad (although justification for overseas costs will need to be made).
- The bursary can be used to cover travel, conference, accommodation costs as well as research equipment (e.g. hire costs, software, scanning time), but not salary or any retrospective ‘backfill’ costs.

- A plain English abstract of up to 250 words explaining what the project entails
- A detailed description of the project in no more than 1000 words
- Applicant CV
- Covering letters of support from
- the applicant’s department
- the host department (if different from own department)
Application process:
- The Bursaries will be competitive, and applications evaluated objectively by members of the executive committee (and potentially external expert reviewers if any conflicts of interest)
- Payment will be retrospective and require receipts.
- Previously successful applicants may not apply again.
- Projects must be undertaken, and claims submitted within a year of the date of award.
- The successful applicant will be expected to submit a 500-word report following the project outlining what was achieved, which will be posted on the BSPR website.
- The successful applicant will be expected to present at the annual BSPR meeting.
- Awards may be conditional on specific milestones and /or deliverable outcomes, to be determined at the discretion of the Committee.
- Acknowledgement of BSPR, including use of the BSPR logo in an acknowledgment slide or on the poster, is a condition of the Bursary.
- The BSPR Executive Committee reserves the right not to make an award if applications are not of a suitable standard for any particular year.
- Where many strong applications are received, multiple smaller awards may be granted, at the discretion of the Committee
