Our junior members are our future. You are represented in the society council. Our annual scientific meeting has a special section for you, including an opportunity for networking.
The BSPR junior forum began at the annual BSPR meeting in 2012, aiming to provide a support network for new consultants and trainees interested in a career in paediatric radiology.
The forum is run by a consultant representative (currently Dr Rhianydd Williams ) and a trainee representative (currently Dr Erica Pace).
We hold a session at each of the annual meetings, usually a combination of an invited speaker. In previous years the topics have covered the use of Osirix, a beginners guide to reporting cases of suspected abuse and getting started in radiology research. Each year a survey has been performed to assess the current job vacancies and potential candidates in paediatric radiology, with the undeniable shortage of radiologists it is something of a buyers market!
This year will be a talk by Sam Chippington (she is now deputy head of London school and was TPD at GOSH) She will talk about how to effectively train today in the busy clinical setting.
We also aim to collate information regarding paediatric imaging fellowships both in the UK and abroad. If you have recently been on a fellowship or have information regarding available fellowships, we would be very grateful if you could pass this on to us so we can create a list of contacts for future candidates.
Please drop us an email if there are any topics you would like included either on the website or in future meetings, we would be delighted to hear from you.
