Fellowship in Pediatric Radiology – Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust

This full time, 1-year paediatric radiology fellowship is an exciting opportunity for radiologists who wish to pursue a career in paediatric radiology or paediatric neuroradiology. Applicants must be on the Specialist Register or be eligible for inclusion on the register 6 months after the interview date. Part time applicants are also encouraged to apply. The successful applicant will gain from one-to-one teaching from a team of 12 consultant Paediatric Radiologists, along with 4 Specialist Registrars. This busy department provides general body imaging, neuroradiology and cardiac imaging. Interventional radiology is provided by Birmingham Children’s Hospital (BCH) and by radiologists from University Hospital Birmingham. The department has recently been remodelled and has all the imaging modalities on site, including two 1.5-T MRI scanners and a NIHR-funded 3-T MRI scanner also supports an increasing number of research programmes. We also have a dedicated interventional suite. BCH is a 320-bed (31 bed PICU) hospital which was recently rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission and provides a wide range of general and specialist health services to children and adolescents within the West Midlands and beyond. As Birmingham’s lead provider of health services for children, the Trust enjoys a national and international reputation in specialist areas including liver transplantation, small bowel transplantation, cardiac surgery and neonatal surgery. The trust was recently appointed as one of the four national centres for the Children’s Epilepsy Surgery Service. The Trust also manages city-wide Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. BCH has recently undergone a merger with Birmingham Women’s Hospital which will further expand the volume of neonatal imaging that we perform. We offer the highly specialist imaging but also the more routine, but clearly hugely important, day-to-day imaging of a large cosmopolitan city.
